Introduction: Providing specialized and responsible human resources is one of the most important goals of universities, especially in clinical fields such as operating rooms. Clinical education, which empowers students in practical environments and with the support of experienced instructors, plays a key role in improving their professional skills. The quality of the educational environment and clinical programs are effective factors in the success of education that require continuous evaluation.
Materials and Methods: This descriptive-analytical study was conducted in 1403 on all operating room students at Sabzevar University of Medical Sciences (49 students) who were present in the internship units. Data were collected using the standard questionnaire of Heshmati et al. and distributed online. The questionnaire included demographic information sections and 33 questions related to the evaluation of five areas of clinical education. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software and independent t-tests, analysis of variance, chi-square, and correlation.
Findings: Among the participants, 55% were female and the mean age was reported to be 22.2 years. The results showed that the academic semester and the instructor's support for the student had a significant effect on the GPA (p < 0.05). Also, students in higher semesters were more satisfied with the clarity of task descriptions and coordination of programs. The evaluation of different areas of clinical education indicated the presence of strengths and weaknesses in educational goals, instructor performance, behavior with students, educational environment, and supervision.
Conclusion: The results of the study showed that improving instructor support and improving the quality of educational programs can help increase student satisfaction and academic performance. To improve the quality of clinical education, it is necessary to modify programs, increase facilities, and improve supervision and evaluation in order to train students efficiently and competently in clinical disciplines.
