post-trauma biological experiences in woman victims of domestic violence

Abstract:   (39 Views)
Background & Aims: Considering the effects of domestic violence on psychological and physical health of family members, the aim of the current study was to explore Post-traumatic life experiences in women were victims of domestic violence.
Materials & Methods: In the study semi-structured interviews with 50 Women victims of domestic violence husbands of women with interpersonal dependency were investigated thorough secondary data analysis by thematic analysis method.
Results: Data analysis led to the extraction of 3 explanatory categories, 20 interpretive categories and 64 descriptive categories these include: 1. Post-traumatic behaviors (coping behaviors, revenge behaviors, turning to alcohol and smoking , Influence on physiological responses, attempted suicide of passive behaviors).2. Emotions experienced after trauma (low self-esteem, fear, anger, hatred and lack of joy in life). 3. Thoughts experienced after trauma (constant fear, feelings of helplessness and misery, wish to die
Hate to be a woman, compare yourself to others, hate yourself, thinking of divorce, wishing to kill onechr(chr('39')39chr('39'))s spouse, lack of love for children, desire to betray, thinking of suicide, indifference, remorse for marriage, thinking of revenge and hatred of men).
Conclusion: Based on these results, women exposed to domestic violence have many behavioral problems emotions and thoughts experienced are after the traumatic experiences. The results could be useful  risk assessment, treatment pathways and management of domestic violence in women victims should be useful.
