Effect OF Strenuous Endurance and High Intensity Interval Training on The Heme oxygenase-1 and TNF-α In Heart Tissue Of Male Wistar Rat

Background and Objective: Exercise is one of the factors contributing to the increase in oxidative stress. Increased oxidative stress can affect cardiovascular injuries and diseases and stimulate the production of cytokines from many cells. But on the other hand, to counteract these pressures, the body responds to oxidative stress by activating the antioxidant defense system and other protective systems. therefor the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of 8 week strenuous endurance and high intensity interval training on the heme oxygenase-1 and TNF-α In heart tissue of male wistar rat.
Materials & Methods: 24 eight weeks old male Wistar rats, after 2 weeks of familiarization, were randomly divided into 3 groups (control, Strenuous endurance , high intensity interval training). The strenuous endurance training and high intensity interval training protocol included running on the treadmill for 8 weeks (5 sessions per week). Standard water and food were freely given to them. The rats were dissected 48 hours after the last 4-hour fasting and training session and tissue samples were collected and HO-1 and TNF-α levels were measured by ELISA method. One way ANOVA was used for data analysis.
 Results: There was no significant difference in TNF-α and HO-1 enzyme levels after 8 weeks of strenuous endurance and high intensity interval training (P˃0/05).
Conclusion: According to the lack of significant changes in HO-1 and TNF-α levels of heart tissue following 8 weeks of strenuous endurance and high intensity interval training, it may be argued that regular exercise can help the body inducing useful acclimatization in antioxidant system, and robust body against oxidative stress.
