Aim: Self-regulation and life expectancy are among the psychological factors that play an important role in reducing emotional problems and suisidal tendencies in adolescents. The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of resilience training on self regulation and life expectancy among male lower secondary school students with suicidal tendencies in Dishmook region. Method: This study was a quasi-experimental design with pre-test, post test, and follow-up with a control group. The statistical population included all male lower secondary school students in the 2023–2024 academic year. From this population, 60 students who obtained high scores on the Auerbakh et al. suicidal tendency questionnaire were randomly selected and assigned to experimental and control groups (30 participants in each group). The research instruments included the Miller and Brown Self-Regulation Questionnaire and the Miller and Powers Life Orientation (Life Expectancy) Questionaire. The experimental group received 13 sessions of 90-minute resilience training, while the control group received intervention. Post-test and follow-up assessments were conducted for both groups. Data were analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA and Bonferroni post hoc test in SPSS version 26. semi-experimental study was conducted using a pretest-posttest-follow-up design with a control group. Results: The results showed that the mean self-regulation score in the experimental group increased from 183.70 in the pre-test to 202.93 in the post-test and 203 in the follow-up, whereas the control group showed a slight decrease from 184.93 to 183.86 and 182.06, respectively. Moreover, the mean life expectancy score in the experimental group increased from 133.10 in pre-test to 161.73 in the post-test and 159.93 in the follow-up, while the control group showed a decrease from 131.03 to 126.63 and 124.56, respectively. The results of repeated measures ANOVA indicated a significant effect of time on self-regulation (F=10.921, P=0.001) and life expectancy (F=102.926, P=0.001). The interaction effect between group and time also significant for both vriables (p<0.001). Furthermore, Bonferroni post hoc results showed that the significant improvements in self-regulation and life expectancy in the experimental group were maintained at follow-up.Conclusion: The findings suggest that resilience-based training can be considered an effective and sustainable intervention for improving self-regulation and life ecpectancy among lower secondary school students with suicidal tendencies.
