Objective:
The level of knowledge of health professionals about oral issues as health care providers greatly impacts the quality of oral health services. By increasing the knowledge and attitude of health workers in oral health, an important step is taken in preventing oral diseases. This study aims is determine the knowledge of health workers Boyer-Ahmad city health.
Material and Methods:
In this descriptive-analytical study, 136 health workers working in health centers of Boyer-Ahmad city who were active in oral health in 1400 participated. A researcher-made questionnaire was used to assess health workers' knowledge and attitude towards oral health in Boyer-Ahmad city. The collected data were analyzed using statistical tests such as two-independent t test, analysis of variance, and Pearson correlation coefficient.
Results:
136 health workers including 81 women (59.60%) and 55 men (40.40%) participated. The mean± standard deviation of the age of participants was 34.42± 6.88 years, and the mean ± standard deviation of work experience of participants was 9.20 8 8.52 years. The majority of study participants (69.10%) had a diploma. The mean ±standard deviation of knowledge and attitude were 45.42± 7.41 and 48.85 ±5.71, respectively. There was no significant difference in knowledge and attitude across gender and education (P >0.05). Also, no significant correlation was found between knowledge and attitude with age and work experience (P >0.05).
Conclusion:
The results showed that health workers' knowledge and attitude were good. According to the results, health workers are ready to receive training programs. However, due to the lack of a significant relationship between knowledge and attitude with age, work experience, and level of education, factors such as retraining programs and easy access to information through the Internet can be considered.
