Hydatid disease of urinary tract is limited to renal involvement by echinococcus granolosus. Involvement of other parts of the urinary tract has been reported only as case reports, and other types of echinococcuses are rarer. The aim of this study was to report our experiences with renal hydatid cyst, and a brief review of articles.

We have treated 16 patients with isolated renal yhdatid cysts between 2001 to 2015. Ultrasonography, Computerized scan, magnetic resonance imaging, and serologic tests were tool of diagnosis. Two patients underwent nephrectomy and the others pericystectomy. A brief review of articles also was done in pubmed and scopus data bases.

Mean age was 49 (9 – 61 years), male to female ratio: 1, A 9 year girl has a calcified, symptomatic hydatid cyst with a papable flank mass. The results of reviewing articles have been shown in a table in the text.

hydatid cyst is still a problem of health in our region. Nowadays, the definite diagnosis of this entity may be possible by using Ultrasonography, Computerized scan, and for more specificity 2 serologic tests. It is important to consider every cystic lesion of the kidney in differential diagnosis of hydatid cyst, especially in endemic areas.
