Submaximal aerobic exercises to improve Urinary Control, balance and aerobic power in older women

Background: With an aging population, the prevalence of physical disabilities are also rising that it would consider care systems, health and social has attracted. Among the common problems in old age loss of balance and posture disorders, joint instability, loss of neuromuscular function, muscle mass, strength, endurance, mobility, incontinence and increased aerobic capacity and increased urination. The overall goal of this study was to investigate the effect of aerobic exercise on urinary control, balance and aerobic capacity elderly woman.

Methods: This study is an applied field method in both pre and post tests were performed. The population of the study, women with urinary incontinence problems in Orumiyeh that after the announcement of the call for cooperation in health centers voluntarily participated in the study. 24 women with age range 60 to 65 years in accordance with the standards of entering the research, selection and 24 hours before the start of the research method of implementing the familiar with practice and then consents and urinary incontinence questionnaires were completed. The subjects were randomly divided into 2 groups: control and aerobic exercise program and 24 hours before the completed health questionnaire and urinary incontinence. The experimental group performed aerobic exercises 12-week and 24 hours after the sixth and twelfth training session completed questionnaires again. K-S test of the normality of the data was. Then the t-test to compare results before and after the test in each group training and one-way analysis of variance to calculate results between the two groups before and after exercise. Analysis and interpretation of the data was performed using software SPSS21.

Results: After 12 weeks of aerobic training walking significant difference in the amount of volume and frequency of urination (P=1) subjects were observed. But the static balance Blindfold (P= 0/001), static balance with open eyes (P=0/001), dynamic balance (P= 0/001) and aerobic capacity (P= 0/001) showed significant differences.

Conclusion: This study showed that walking exercise for 12 weeks on incontinence and urination elderly women had no significant effect.
