Introduction: Young people, especially students, can be more prone to committing risky behaviors due to their greater participation in peer groups and being in more diverse social situations, as well as more academic, social, and economic responsibilities that are expected of them. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between sexual health literacy scores and risky sexual behaviors scores in students of Yasuj University of Medical Sciences in 1403-1404.
Materials and Methods: This descriptive-analytical study was conducted in 1404 with a sample size of 134 people and with random stratified sampling. A demographic, risky behavior, and sexual health literacy questionnaire was used to collect data. Pearson correlation coefficient was used to examine the relationship between sexual health literacy and risky sexual behavior. The relationship between demographic characteristics and health literacy scores and risky sexual behavior was examined using a linear regression test. A significance level of p<0.05 was considered statistically significant.
Findings: The results of the study showed that the average total score of sexual health literacy and its domains in the participants was sufficient (76) and the score of high-risk sexual behavior was low (1.98). There was a weak positive relationship between these two variables, which was not statistically significant (p>0.05). Linear regression showed that there was a significant relationship between the sexual health literacy score and demographic characteristics such as age, place of residence, source of sexual information, and participation in sexual content in cyberspace (P<0.05). There was a significant relationship between the score of high-risk sexual behavior and demographic characteristics such as age, gender, educational level, and employment status (p>0.05).
Conclusion: The participants had a sufficient sexual health literacy score and a low high-risk sexual behavior score, which showed a weak, non-significant positive relationship between these two variables. Factors that can affect the level of sexual health literacy and high-risk sexual behavior in this study include age, gender, place of residence, educational level, and employment status.
