Aim and scope:

Armaghane-danesh is the first official journal of Yasuj University of Medical Sciences being published since 1997 and published regularly. This peer-reviewed journal is a Bimonthly publication covering areas of medical research relevant to communicable and non-communicable human diseases and free of charge. Original papers, Case reports, Brief Reports and Letters to the Editor in the field of journal are welcome. Review articles written by experts in their field and with references to at least three of their own published works are also accepted. Articles appear in a Persian full text accompanied with both English and Persian abstracts.

1- Manuscript submission:

 2- Manuscript preparation

 Papers should be in Persian (Farsi) with abstracts in both Farsi and English. Type the manuscript in Word using 1 inch margins all around and double line spacing. 

Tables and figures should be on separate pages. The manuscript should be accompanied by a covering letter to the Editor-in-Chief, including title and author(s) name and undertaking that it has not been published or submitted elsewhere. Use Yagut (point font size 11) for Farsi and Arial (point font size 10) for English typing.

The Original manuscript should not exceed 14 printed pages (or 6000 words in length) including tables and figures.

Short communications should not exceed 5 printed pages (or 500-2000 words in length) including one table and two figures.

A Case Report must include an abstract of no more than 50 words. It may be no more than 800 words long.

Review articles are accepted (under certain circumstances and just by an invitation from IJM. Reviews should be concise and no longer than 4 to 6 printed pages. Reviews are also peer-reviewed.

2.1. The title page

The title page should include the title, the full names, e-mail and postal addresses, highest academic degrees, and affiliations of all authors. For correspondence author phone and fax number should also be included.

2.2. Abstract

Abstract should be provided in both Farsi and English (300-400 words in separate pages).

It should appear in a structured format as: Background and aims, Methods, Results and Conclusions. The abstract should be informative and completely self-explanatory, briefly present the topic, state the scope of the experiments, indicate significant data, and point out major findings and conclusions.

 Keywords

2.3. The body text

The body text should contain Introduction, Materials & Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusion, Acknowledgements (including name of all sources of financial and material support and assistance) and References sections.

2.3.1. Introduction:

This section should provide a clear statement of the problem and a brief survey of the exiting literature on the subject. Avoid mentioning data or conclusions of the study in this part.

2.3.2. Materials and methods:

  It should contain a detailed explanation of all the steps taken in the research except those that refer to standard techniques. All the drugs and chemicals used in the study should be identified precisely (generic name, dose and route of administration). For all used instruments give the manufacturer’s name and location:  city/ state/ country). The results of research involving human subjects will be published only if such research has been conducted in full accordance with ethical principles and a statement describing approval by the Institutional Ethical Committee is required. Studies involving experimental animals must include a statement indicating guidelines were followed for the care and use of the animals. Mention any statistical method or computer program used in the study.

2.3.3. Results:

 This section should be clear and concise. Data should not be repeated in both a table and a figure. Tables and figures should be selected to illustrate specific points. Results should be explained, but largely without referring to the literature.

2.3.4. Discussion:

 This should explore the significance of the results of the work, not repeat them. The Discussion should interpret the findings in view of the results obtained in this and in past studies on this topic.

2.3.5. Conclusion:  

It should include the outcome of the research.The Conclusions Of the study may be presented in a short conclusions section, which may stand alone or form a subsection of a discussion section.

2.3.6. Tables and figures:

Tables and figures should be numbered (1, 2, 3, etc.) as they appear in the text. Ensure that the data presented in the tables do not duplicate results described elsewhere in the article. Tables are to be typed double-spaced and do not submit tables as photographs. The legends should be placed below figures with a title and include sufficient description so that the figure is understandable without reading the text of the manuscript. Information given in legends should not be repeated in the text. Graphics should be prepared in high resolution GIF, TIFF, JPEG. Their print size should not exceed 8×12 cm. If the subject is human, cover the parts which can identify the subject. Include informed consent forms for identifiable patients.

2.4. Acknowledgments:

The Acknowledgments of people, grants, funds, etc should be brief. People who contributed to the work should be listed in the acknowledgments, along with their contributions. Authors must ensure that anyone named in the acknowledgments agrees to being so named.

2.5. References:

References should be listed in numerical order (reference numbers in the text are to be in parentheses). List all authors when there are 6 or fewer, when there are 7 or more, list the first 6, followed by “et al”. References should also include the title, journal’s abbreviated name, date of publication, volume and issue numbers and starting and ending page numbers. References to books should include Author(s), Title, Edition, Place of publication, Publisher and Year of publication. Chapters in a book should appear as Author(s), Title of chapter, Editor(s), Name of the book, Place of publication, Publisher, Year of publication and Pages. References to electronic journals should include Author(s), Title of article, Abbreviated title of electronic journal, [serial online], Publication year, month(s), [cited year month (abbreviated) day], Volume number, Issue number, Page numbers or number of screens, available from, URL address underlined:

3- Ethical guidelines

Ethics of human and animal experimentation: Manuscripts describing any experimental work with humans should include a statement that the Ethical Committee of the institution in which the work was done has approved it, and that the subjects gave informed consent to the work. The clinicians who conduct a clinical trial on human subjects and wish to publish the results of their investigations in this Journal should have obtained permission for their clinical trial from Iranian Registry of Clinical Trials (IRCT) (http://www.irct.ir/) or other well-known clinical trials registries. Experiments with animals should be done in accordance with the legal requirements of the relevant local or national authority

4- Review process

All submitted manuscripts are subject to peer review and editorial approval. Papers may be rejected without external review if the Associate Editor, together with a Science Editor or the Editor-in Chief, determines that the study does not significantly advance the field or the subject material is inappropriate for the Armaghane danesh readership. The manuscript is sent to three reviewers. The whole review process depends on receiving the referees' comments and revising the manuscripts based on these comments to the author (mean 1.5-2 months). 5- Page charges

There are no charges for publication in this journal

6- Conflict of Interest

Authors must acknowledge and declare any sources of funding and potential conflicting interest, such as receiving funds or fees by, or holding stocks and shares in, an organization that may profit or lose through publication of your paper. Declaring a competing interest will not lead to automatic rejection of the paper, but we would like to be made aware of it.
