The Effectiveness of Group Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy on Self-Control component and Coping Strategies in Patients with MS

The aim of this study was Effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral group therapy on coping styles and self-control skill in patients with MS in Urmia. Quasi experimental research design and pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this study included all patients with MS. Multiple Sclerosis Society member. Urmia in 2015 were monitoring the population, 30 patients in the experimental group and the control group (15 subjects per group) to randomly draw and will go to the MS Society were selected. Entry criteria include patients with a definite diagnosis of MS. Monitoring by expert neurologist, at least three periods of relapse and remission, higher education cycles, aged 18 to 50, lack of mental disorders and acute physical and psychological absence of any other. Exclusion criteria were the lack of inclusion criteria. Before implementing educational programs, groups coping style questionnaire and self-Tanjy Endler and Parker were tested, the experimental group received cognitive-behavioral therapy and the control group received no training. After the training program, both groups were tested by questionnaires. Analysis of covariance was used to test data. The results showed that cognitive-behavioral therapy on MS patients is effective coping styles and self-control. In other words, cognitive-behavioral therapy improved problem-focused coping and emotion-focused coping reduction, avoidance coping style and self-control in patients. The results of this treatment in patients with multiple sclerosis and provide new insights focused interventions.
